Event at Living Art Studio

Hand engraving since 1984, John K. Pease works as a freelance hand engraver of firearms in Chester, MA. With a period of his career spent working at the Smith and Wesson factory headquartered in Springfield, MA, the majority of his work comes from the internationally known firearms manufacturer. He has also worked with US Repeating Arms Co. and Remington Arms Co. His work with Doug Turnbull Restorations embellishing historic period firearms perhaps best represents his passion for the artisan nature of his craft. Studying the patterns and styles of the 1800’s and 1900’s has given him the insight to truly respect the artisans and craftsmen of the past. His style of engraving captures timeless scroll elements. Combining intricate details with tasteful border treatments, in all creating a balance of embellishment unique to each piece. The engravings produced are done by hand with hammer, chisel and hand pushed gravers. Most all tools are handmade or designed; hand sharpening is done producing a keen edge thus creating clean precise cuts. John K. Pease will be giving a live demonstration of his hand-engraving technique at the Living Art Studio Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5-8p, stop by to see first hand this master at his craft.
