Special Reunion: Making this year's event even more exciting, the founders of the holiday – John "Ol' Chumbucket" Baur and Mark "Cap'n Slappy" Summers – will be on hand to celebrate. This is a reunion for the pair. Cap'n Slappy and Ol' Chumbucket have performed their pirate shtick in Las Vegas, Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, Seattle, Los Angeles and points large and small in between. But they haven't shared a stage since 2008. In fact, they haven't shared the same time zone! 2008 was the year Ol' Chumbucket and his wife Mad Sally pulled up stakes and moved their family to the U.S. Virgin Islands, while Slappy stayed in Oregon. But they've moved back to the mainland and this Sept. 19 both Slappy and Ol' Chumbucket have their sights set on the tattoo shop, owned and operated by their friend Clay Clement, who in his freebooter guise of Talderoy, is another major figure in the pirate community.

Book Signing: Ol' Chumbucket also is promoting his new book, the YA adventure novel Chrissie Warren: Pirate Hunter, which will be released that day. Cap'n Slappy and Talderoy are promoting their book, Pirate Santa, released in 2011.

About International Talk Like a Pirate Day: International Talk Like a Pirate Day has been celebrated every Sept. 19 on all seven continents, at the White House – at the South Pole and on the International Space Station. It's been the subject of two New York Times crossword puzzles, a question in Trivial Pursuits and "Hollywood Squares," and an answer on "Jeopardy!" It's used as the basis of fundraising drives by major charities around the world, and commercial events (for instance, walk into any Krispy Kreme store on Sept. 19 dressed as a pirate and walk out with a dozen doughnuts!)
