Scout Cuomo:

Since childhood I have been fascinated by our worlds’ vast biodiversity and the mysterious creatures that evolution continuously reinvents. I find a lot of inspiration from fish and their incredible survival mechanisms, diversity of shapes, colors and sizes. For me, studying creatures teach me to continue to rediscover the world.

This show is the product of experimenting with layering resin and paint. Layer is set upon layer of acrylic paintings between different planes of resin. If you were to shine a light through these you will see the different brush stroke planes submerged below the surface of the painting.

I have been working at the Green Bean for almost three years since we first opened December 5, 2007. I love and cherish this place and the people I work with. Since I moved out of my windowless attic studio to the Arts and Industry Building in Florence I am inspired by the light the space provides.
