As we speed down the highways and railways of our modern society the landscape becomes a ripple of mass and light that create a unique visual rhythm. These are the rhythms of our modern world and the inspiration for Chromarrhythmia, the newest body of work by Philadelphia-based painter, Michele Kishita.

Influenced by the landscapes of Japan and the rural countryside of her childhood home in Pennsylvania, Kishita uses chromatic colors to create the visual rhythms of the blurred landscapes of her travels. In her titular piece, Chromarrhythmia, Kishita has created multiple individual panels that flow into one another to create one elongated piece, while each remains true to its original composition. Choosing one or two colors as her constant, the work is a unique color-driven arrangement that is deeply rooted in landscape.

Michele Kishita earned her BFA and MFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of the Arts. Kishita lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.
