Hello World,

First, thank you for taking the time to read my story. Every person makes a difference.

My name is Holly May VanAlstine, currently in Port Huron, Michigan. May 20, 1989 I was brought into this world. At only 24 weeks, weighing One Pound, Fifteen Ounces. Miracle baby. Holes in my heart, legally blind in right eye. For two months, I was given blood transfusions daily until I was stronger.

Jumping to current date
November 2014
I am 25 years young.

Disease Number ONE-I was born with the Gene HLA B27 and Ankylosing Spondylitis. My Immune System is attacking my spine. Inflammation causes pain 24-7. It affects the bones and joints at the base of the spine where it connects with the pelvis. These joints become swollen and inflamed. Over time, the affected spinal bones join together.

Disease Number Two- Sjogrens Syndrome. Sjogrens syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which the glands that produce tears and saliva are destroyed. This causes dry mouth and dry eyes. The condition may affect other parts of the body, including the kidneys and lungs.

Disease Number Three- Fibromyalgia-long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, sleep problems, headaches, depression, and anxiety.

Scoliosis-Abnormal curving of spine. This too, causes pain and stiffness.

Migraines- Associated with disease number one.

Gathering from above, I have a LOT going on.

There's extra medical supplies not covered, dental is needed as well.

December 5, 2014- My University of Michigan Appointment. Hopefully they are able to make me feel better.

Before these diseases took a toll, I loved basketball, baseball, biking, rollerblading, dog park with pups, reading, writing. I have hope I will find myself again.

God Bless

Love,
Holly May VanAlstine
