Bambú Tattoo is one of Providences premier tattoo shops, focusing on custom art and the individual needs and ideas of its clients. Since opening in Downtown Providence in 2002 owner and artist Joel Mejias has received many awards for his work and has developed a loyal clientele that visits from all over New England.


On Saturday June 2nd Bambú Tattoo will be celebrating its ten-year anniversary in Providence and the opening of its new location at 16 Basset St in Providence’s jewelry district. From 2 till 8 pm the new studio will be hosting an open house. The public is invited to visit the new space and meet the staff.


Shop owner Joel Mejias has been tattooing for 17 years. He felt the calling since a very young. After apprenticing, studying and practicing the art of tattooing he took the leap to open his own shop in 2002. Joel’s interests are in realism hyperrealism, floral and portrait work although black and gray is his favorite. One of his major strengths as an artist is in color work and using the body flow to compliment the client. Along with conventional tattoos Joel specializes in work with ultraviolet ink and body piercing.


Bambú Tattoo’s new location is not only conveniently located off the point street exit on 95, there is plenty of parking. The studio provides a safe, sterile and fun environment and is certified by the RI board of health and follows all OSHA regulations. All of its artists are licensed by the state of Rhode Island. Bambú is Looking forward to continue providing top-notch service in its new location. The open house on June 2nd will offer an opportunity for the Bambú to open its doors and invite the public into its new home. Bambú looks forward to many more years servicing Providence’s tattoo needs.
