Beginner Drawing Information:


The class will include a 2 hour introductory lesson followed by 3 hour lessons every Saturday for 4 weeks.


Beginner drawing students will learn will learn seeing/drawing skills and sensitivity toward the aesthetics of form and space including linear perspective, mark making, value, line and line quality is explored. Students work in black and white media on a variety of paper from still-life, landscapes and self-portrait.
This is an introductory class which will expose the student to a number of traditional skills and ideas that have occupied artists throughout history.


Upon successful completion of the course, student’s work will demonstrate:
• The ability to draw from observation
• The ability to use line to represent volume and space
• The ability to use linear perspective in the creation of volume and space
• Disciplined work habits
• Confidence in drawing skills and just having fun drawing




Advanced Drawing Information:


The class will include 3 hour classes every Saturday for 4 weeks.
In this course students will expand their drawing vocabulary both technically and conceptually. Multiple material will be used and students will explore formal, intellectual and researched based concerns. As the class progresses students will have the opportunity to examine issues with the pursuit of developing an individual artistic product.


Upon successful completion of the course, students will learn to produce:
• Suspended still-life
• Non-representational self-portrait
• Expressive gestural drawing
• Thematic exploration
• Large-scale drawing
• Mixed media drawing


The course requires much time and homework to be completed as will teach you to succinctly articulate your work and build a professional portfolio.
